iPhone Skins anger Apple

They always say: "Immitation is the best form of flattery... " but Apple's lawyers don't agree.

Someone (on xda-developers.com forum) created a skin for Windows Mobile phones so they could pretend like they have an Apple. (You've seen the TV ads, I'm sure.) Of course someone else did the same thing for the Palm audience too. They old joke sez "IBM means I'm becoming Macintosh."

Of course, along comes blogger Paul O’Brien who linked to the download page from his blog. (As most bloggers did.) Then, a cease and desist letter arrives from Apple’s lawyers. So he took it down. (Which is why we're not linking to it.) O’Brien included a screenshot of the user interface : which looks a lot like this.

From there, Apple then continued to go after a number of other bloggers who simply reported on the same darn article.

You realize there's only a few pieces of news, right? Then 50,000 bloggers report on the same item, or at least link to it.
