Apple sez it's thilly
So, Cisco Systems has sued Apple Inc., claiming that the maker of computers and media players doesn't have permission to name its newest device the iPhone.
Cisco has owned the trademark for "iPhone" since 2000.
Apple replies: "We think Cisco's trademark lawsuit is silly," (Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman)
Trademark Laws out the door... mob rules
"That which we call an iPhone by any other name would sound as sweet."
Robert Cringely of PBS sums it up our opinion exactly...
No matter what Apple calls the "iPhone" they know that the media hype, and news stories of the last few days have made an indelible mark on the consumers mind -- no matter what it's called, it's still an "iPhone" -- and Apple is banking on that. So they take on Cisco in court and decline to agree to change the name. Doesn't matter. It's still an "iPhone"
