AOL privacy? At last?

AOL is about to finally hire its first chief privacy officer.

Of course it took the release of more than 600,000 AOL members Web search data to get them off their duffs. Back in August, the release of the data brought widespread criticism from privacy advocates and Congress and could lead to an FTC complaint. See: news.com.com

The big scandal however will be when people start waking up to find AOL has blocked their IP addresses for no reason. Send an email to anyone you know at AOL and see if they've already blocked YOU.

They're also disbanding their business unit that handled access subscriptions -- and watch out -- it's all aimed at generating more ad revenues. Follow along as AOL becomes the world's largest spammer!
