Google Rebuffs Feds

Google has rebuffed the feds on search requests once again in the on-going battle over online search requests. How does it affect you, the computer user?

Michael Liedtke (The Associated Press) is reporting this morning ...

... Google Inc. is rebuffing the Bush administration's demand for a peek at what millions of people have been looking up on the Internet's leading search engine a request that underscores the potential for online databases to become tools for government surveillance.

As you know, Google refused to comply with U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' order to hand over the requested records. While many will agree that this is a matter of privacy, and that it could be the 'slippery slope' to the loss of more privacy and rights -- others would argue that the information could, indeed help trap a terrorist and even avoid serious loss of life.

Is it worth it?

I guess that's up to the courts to decide. In the mean time, criminals and terrorists are implementing their schemes.

Interestingly enough, there have been "keyword search" lists published on the web all along. But it's not the keywords they're searching for. I believe they're actually looking for popularity of underworld and terrorist sites.
