A New Beginning
Here we are off to a new beginning with the InfoManager.
Lots of new things planned.
When Fred sent me information about starting this blog, one of the things he mentioned was an article at O'Reilly on Web 2.0.
In my mind one of the things that makes Web 2.0 is the community that exists on many current web sites. As this community provides the content that makes the site a Web 2.0 site. For this reason, my goal is to include as much content from our readers as possible.
However, because by its nature blogs lend themselves to spammers, all posts will be moderated. That is the only way we an make sure that we don't get a ton of posts from companies trying to get you to play poker at their web sites. (That was my experience with a company blog I did for RadioShack. Fortunately, it was moderated as well, so the 200 daily posts I got promoting Texas Hold'em didn't get through to my readers. Post your comments and I can almost guarantee that they will be posted as written. (Will check on family appropriateness, but I am sure that user group leaders and members will have very limited need to be censored. I invite your comments.
The past 10 years of doing the InfoManager column has been an adventure. One that was almost always interesting. (Originally it was called RumorManager, but we changed that after Apple started the anti-rumor campaign. Even though one of our purposes was to find out if rumors were valid.)
I see this as an extension to what we used to do with the User Group Forum on AOL. Instead of a monthly discussion group, it will be a continual one.
This new format promises to add new interesting challenges and opportunities. I am looking forward to the next 10 years.
(BTW - MUGS are still welcome to use our material in their newsletters. Just let your members know where they came from.)

Useful information. Good job. I've followed the infomanager for ages (seems like) but with this blog, and the RSS feed -- it's really become an interesting and beneficial resource.
I no longer need to subscribe to the email newsletter!
BRAVO, GREAT WORK LYNN AND FRED
